It's Life

Let me start off by saying this post your reading right now is long overdue. It's coming to you now with many events inspiring it over the past couple of months. It isn't directed at any one person, but for many and many to come.

With that said, I'd like to say that I'm too busy to worry about the small stuff in life. I'm out in the world trying, and so far succeeding, in making my dreams come true. I have a girlfriend and an amazing family by my sides, and I'm tackling my challenges head on and holding nothing back.

I'm not perfect and I never have or will claim to be. I make mistakes. Part of my character and who I am is learning to do things the hard way. It's just what I've always done. I stumble on this path labeled life. But with God's help I stand back up, taller than ever, and continue my journey.

I'm learning to not be afraid to speak my mind, respectively. Friends come and go, family disagrees and leaves you alone, I understand that. I'm not expecting everyone in my life to stick around forever. Just a small select few, and I know who they are and they know who I am.

Making enemies is part of your path. You can't be liked by everyone. I believe it was Eminem who said that if you have enemies, good, you stood up for something.

With all of this said, I'm going to continue my trek, continue doing what I believe, and continue being there for the people I love and care about.  No person can ever separate me from the ones I love. No matter how hard you try.

In conclusion, I will say that I'm giving it my all. I've come this far, I can't and won't give up now on anything. My adventure is just getting started, whether you'll be joining me or not at the end of it all.

Corkscrews and Loops

Lately I feel that I have been putting too much information online about what's going on in my life. I've been trying to keep some updated through social networking because this is the only means to do so. However, I still think I'm going to cut back all the stuff about what I'm up to, and more just random thinking. With that said...

I had another loop up, down, and right turn in my life happen today. Now like I said above, I'm not going to get into the little details of it all. If you absolutely must know, then text or call me. Also, send me a message or DM. But it's not for the public, just those that I trust to know. But basically with the Berry Farm, I was only going to be working 2 days a week. And on every shift I've worked so far, they cut me back to half a shift. So that's approximately 8 hours a week. Living on my own now, that doesn't pay for anything. That doesn't even cover gas to jump on the 5 and get their. Unfortunately, I had to give them my goodbyes.

I have a second interview tomorrow with a restaurant I'm very fond of. They make the best chipotle chicken sandwiches! If things work out with them, Great! And I'll be back on track soon. If not, I made peace with it and am taking a different road in life.

That's basically it. Will I be traveling on Road A or Road B next week. I'm not sure yet. But God will lead me through whichever he chooses. And I can't wait for the adventures on both. Because both have pros and cons, and both are new experiences.

What I've Been Up To

Has it really been a couple of weeks since I blogged? I mean, yesterday I posted a few updates, but nothing too major. Just thought I'd pop in for a sec and write about what's new with me. Nothing. The end.

Alright, so maybe some minor new things. I'm currently just working still, going to school (almost done!), and playing with our new addition to the family- Rufus, a French Pointer puppy. These things alone have kept me busy. But, Easter Break has started and this week I'm gonna try to make it a productive one by finish reading the Hunger Games and go see the movie, and organize things a bit in my space at the house. Maybe I'll write some more on the Random Post. I've been keeping Disney Park Secrets up to date a bit lately, and now it's Jake's turn to do a land, so I'll be taking a short leave of absence from there.

Total side note, kinda crushing on a girl. (For those of you that haven't been able to tell from all our online discussions and shananigans). Just thought I'd mention that. I'm prepared to be bugged about it now, but I don't care. She's pretty much worth it. :)

Well that's about it. My current life in a nutshell. Back to.. Well, living.

Old Long Syne

In all honesty, I'm terribly sad to see 2011 pass away. There has been no greater year in my entire life than this one. All my education combined could never amount to the things I have learned on my own, and from others this year. This past year has been very nostalgic for me, and I will never forget it.

"Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne?"

Ever since I've first heard this song, I've pondered the lyrics and what they meant. Should an old acquaintance be forgot? Should we not remember them? It never made sense to me. But the truth is, we don't remember every little thing we did each year. I know I don't. Perhaps that's why this song is for New Year's, because that previous year was your acquaintance, and now this acquaintance has passed on.

Truth is, there are things this past year that have happened that I will never forget. I thank God everyday for this year-long journey. Some of my adventures have included 4 Disney trips, getting to tour the Walt Disney Studios and Archives, the D23 Convention, and changing jobs.

I thank God everyday for the incredible people I have had the privilege of meeting this past year. From my brother, to incredible co-workers who I've built a life-long relationship with, to those of you online who I have yet to meet. I don't think I've ever been closer to friends until now. You guys know who you are, and thank you for inspiring me and being by my side. There is nothing more meaningful to me than that.

This year, I have learned so much about God. I realized that in previous years I wasn't trusting him completely, and looking back I now see how much I doubted. After some hardcore prayer sessions, and after he answered some of my requests in the most obvious of ways that totally had me dumb-founded, He taught me not to doubt, and to trust with all my heart. I don't think there is a more powerful message and feeling then that. I thank Christ everyday for what he has done for me. I truly do not deserve it.

As much as I'm going to miss 2011, I look forward to 2012. I have some really big plans that I can't wait to share with you guys. I'm running after my dreams now, and for the first time ever, they seem to be in reach. I plan on changing for the better this year, and being more family/friend oriented. After all, they are the ones who've got my back and are there when I need them.
I've always said that my New Year's Resolution was to not make a New Year's Resolution, because no one keeps them. This year I'm changing that. This year's Resolution isn't to go on a diet, or stop drinking soda. It's deeper than that. I'm going to shape my life to be the man God wanted me to be. It's all for him.

So, should old acquaintances be forgot? I don't think so. I think they should be forever alive in our memories. However, this version of the song was not the original version. This song is so much more than acquaintances, and remembering them. Perhaps the original version by James Watson, which was written in 1711, will make more sense to you. It did to me.

Before I say goodbye, I want to wish you a very happy New Years. Thank you for everything- I look forward to new adventures in 2012.

 -------------------------------------------------------

Should Old Acquaintance be forgot,
and never thought upon;
The flames of Love extinguished,
and fully past and gone:
Is thy sweet Heart now grown so cold,
that loving Breast of thine;
That thou canst never once reflect
on Old long syne.
CHORUS:
On Old long syne my Jo,
in Old long syne,
That thou canst never once reflect,
on Old long syne.
My Heart is ravisht with delight,
when thee I think upon;
All Grief and Sorrow takes the flight,
and speedily is gone;
The bright resemblance of thy Face,
so fills this, Heart of mine;
That Force nor Fate can me displease,
for Old long syne.
CHORUS
Since thoughts of thee doth banish grief,
when from thee I am gone;
will not thy presence yield relief,
to this sad Heart of mine:
Why doth thy presence me defeat,
with excellence divine?
Especially when I reflect
on Old long syne
